Questions people ask before cleaning a spreadsheet
- How do I clean a CSV file before importing it?
- Drop empty rows, trim stray whitespace, standardize dates and emails, and check for duplicates hidden by casing or spacing. Uploading the file first shows each of those fixes in a preview so nothing changes until you're sure.
- I found a Reddit tip to use Remove Duplicates. How do I make sure it does not delete the wrong rows?
- Sort so the row you want to keep is on top and only tick the columns that truly define a duplicate. If you want a safety net, upload the file and the preview shows which rows would be collapsed and which would be kept before anything is deleted.
- What is the safest way to remove blank rows in Excel?
- Filter or sort by a key column and delete truly empty ranges one at a time. On messy sheets, uploading the file first is safer, the preview flags near-empty rows (stray spaces, invisible characters) that Go To Special skips.
- Reddit or ChatGPT gave me a cleanup formula. How can I preview what will actually change?
- Community and chat-tool advice is usually right in principle but risky on your own file. The free preview applies the standard cleanup rules to a sample of your data so you can see the before-and-after on real rows before you commit.
