Privacy Policy

Last updated July 22, 2026

Clean That Sheet is designed to minimize the collection and storage of spreadsheet data. This Privacy Policy explains how Clean That Sheet and the CTS Guard Google Sheets add-on access, use, protect, retain, and disclose information.

Clean That Sheet browser-based file cleanup

Spreadsheet files uploaded through the Clean That Sheet website are processed locally in the user’s browser. Clean That Sheet does not upload, store, sell, view, or share the contents of those spreadsheet files on its servers.

After the user finishes processing or downloading a file, the spreadsheet data is cleared from the browser session according to the normal operation of the browser and application.

CTS Guard Google Sheets add-on

CTS Guard is a Google Sheets add-on that helps users review and clean the spreadsheet in which the add-on is opened.

Google user data accessed

CTS Guard may access information contained in the Google spreadsheet where the user opens and operates the add-on. Depending on the feature selected, this may include:

  • Cell values
  • Formulas
  • Headers
  • Blank cells
  • Duplicate entries
  • Imported-data formatting
  • Spreadsheet structure
  • Other spreadsheet content necessary to perform the user-requested cleanup or review

CTS Guard accesses only the spreadsheet in which the add-on is currently being used. It does not request general access to all files in the user’s Google Drive.

CTS Guard also uses Google Apps Script permissions to display menus, prompts, dialogs, and sidebars inside Google Sheets.

How Google user data is used

CTS Guard uses Google spreadsheet data only to provide features requested by the user. These features may include:

  • Identifying duplicate records
  • Identifying blank rows or cells
  • Reviewing headers and imported data
  • Detecting formatting inconsistencies
  • Reviewing formulas
  • Applying user-approved spreadsheet changes
  • Creating a change report
  • Supporting undo and review workflows

CTS Guard does not use Google user data for advertising, behavioral profiling, credit decisions, data brokerage, or training generalized artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.

External service connections

CTS Guard connects to supporting external services to perform limited operational functions such as:

  • Verifying activation status
  • Checking subscription or entitlement status
  • Enforcing usage limits
  • Redeeming activation codes
  • Preventing abuse
  • Supporting account and service operations

Spreadsheet cell values and spreadsheet contents are not transmitted to these external activation, entitlement, or subscription services.

Only the limited technical or account-related information necessary to perform these operational functions may be transmitted.

Payment information

Payments may be processed by a third-party payment provider.

Clean That Sheet and CTS Guard do not receive or store full payment-card details. Spreadsheet contents are not shared with payment providers.

Payment providers may process transaction information according to their own privacy policies and legal obligations.

Basic website and technical data

Clean That Sheet may collect limited technical information such as:

  • Browser or device information
  • Basic website analytics
  • Application-error information
  • Security logs
  • Usage counts
  • Activation or subscription status
  • Information needed to prevent abuse and maintain the service

This information is used to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the service. It does not include spreadsheet contents unless the user deliberately provides that information while requesting support.

Sharing, transfer, and disclosure

Clean That Sheet does not sell, rent, or trade Google user data or spreadsheet contents.

Google user data is not shared, transferred, or disclosed to third parties except:

  • When necessary to provide or secure the service
  • To service providers acting on behalf of Clean That Sheet
  • To process payments or maintain subscriptions
  • To comply with applicable laws, legal processes, or governmental requests
  • To investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or violations of applicable terms
  • As part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of business assets, subject to applicable notice and legal requirements

Service providers may access only the limited information necessary to perform their contracted functions. They may not use that information for their own advertising or unrelated purposes.

Spreadsheet cell values and spreadsheet contents are not shared with external activation, entitlement, subscription, analytics, or payment services.

Data protection and security

Clean That Sheet uses reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, loss, or destruction.

These safeguards include:

  • Encrypted HTTPS connections for communications with supporting services
  • Restricted access to administrative systems
  • Limited collection of data
  • Separation of spreadsheet processing from activation and payment systems
  • Access controls for operational systems
  • Monitoring and logging intended to detect misuse or security issues

No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security. Clean That Sheet takes precautions appropriate to the nature of the information it processes.

Data retention

Spreadsheet files processed through the Clean That Sheet website are not stored on Clean That Sheet servers.

Spreadsheet contents processed by CTS Guard remain in the user’s Google spreadsheet. CTS Guard does not retain copies of spreadsheet cell values or spreadsheet contents on its external activation, subscription, or entitlement systems.

Clean That Sheet may retain limited activation, subscription, entitlement, usage, transaction, security, and technical records for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • Operate the service
  • Maintain accurate subscription or entitlement status
  • Provide customer support
  • Prevent fraud or abuse
  • Resolve disputes
  • Satisfy legal, tax, accounting, or regulatory obligations

Information that is no longer reasonably necessary will be deleted, anonymized, or securely disposed of, subject to applicable legal requirements.

Data deletion and access revocation

Users may request deletion of personal information maintained by Clean That Sheet by emailing help@cleanthatsheet.com.

Clean That Sheet may ask for reasonable verification before completing a deletion request. Verified requests will be processed within a reasonable period unless retention is required by law or remains necessary for fraud prevention, security, dispute resolution, or other legitimate operational purposes.

Users may revoke CTS Guard’s access to their Google Account through their Google Account security and third-party access settings.

Uninstalling CTS Guard or revoking Google Account access stops the add-on from receiving future access through that authorization.

Optional email updates from the Google Sheets sidebar

The CTS Guard sidebar in Google Sheets can optionally collect an email address that the user types in manually, together with a record of the user’s consent. Clean That Sheet does not read the email address from the user’s Google Account, and consent is never inferred from installing, using, or paying for the add-on.

Addresses submitted this way are used to send product updates, spreadsheet tips, and occasional offers from Clean That Sheet. The consent record includes the consent text shown at signup, the consent version, the add-on version, and a random installation identifier. No spreadsheet contents, file names, sheet names, cell values, or formulas are collected with the signup.

Joining the list is entirely voluntary. Using CTS Guard does not require joining it, and declining does not limit any add-on feature. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe method, and users may also request removal by emailing help@cleanthatsheet.com.

Sensitive and confidential files

Clean That Sheet is intended for ordinary spreadsheet-cleanup tasks.

Users should avoid processing highly sensitive, regulated, confidential, financial, health, authentication, or government-identification data unless they have determined that use of the service is appropriate and permitted under their own legal, contractual, and security obligations.

Google API Services User Data Policy

CTS Guard’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Information received from Google APIs is used only to provide or improve user-facing features that are visible and relevant to the user’s interaction with CTS Guard.

Google user data is not used for personalized advertising, retargeting, interest-based advertising, or determining creditworthiness.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

Clean That Sheet may update this Privacy Policy as the product, legal requirements, or privacy practices change.

When this policy is updated, the “Last updated” date at the top of the page will also be updated.
